For those concerned about their own or another's feelings towards children
If you have experienced abuse and you are struggling with your emotions, then it is time to ask for help. Consider seeing your doctor who may refer you to your local mental health team. Don’t be alarmed by this, there is no stigma attached and you should be able to make contact with someone who is trained in this area. Once you start to articulate what happened you will be on your way to evolving a coping strategy.
There are also a number of help lines and web sites providing information and answers to the many questions and challenges you may be facing if you – or those around you – have been at the receiving end of sexual abuse. |

a Real Media file from the BBC. This is an audio piece by Fergal Keane for BBC R4 about Colm O’Gorman, the founder of One in Four (see above). It is a very insightful piece of journalism which demonstrates among many other things, the denial in which parents and others often find themselves when they suspect sexual abuse. |
